Traffic stop leads to DWI arrest involving stolen vehicle


According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Queensbury resident Saturday March 25, 2017.

Nicholas M. Valdakis, 22 , of Sugar Bush Road, Queensbury, N.Y. was charged with driving while intoxicated and grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony. Valdakis was also involved in a minor motor vehicle accident on State Route 149 in the Town of Granville at approximately 2:30am.

Valdakis was intoxicated and it was determined the vehicle he was driving was stolen from the Town of Granville.

Valdakis had a BAC of .11% and was also issued traffic tickets for failure to use a designated lane and for aggravated unlicensed operation due to his license being suspended.

He was arraigned in Fort Edward Town Court and was remanded to the Washington County Jail for lack of bail.

The investigation and arrest was made by Sergeant Michael Distasio and Deputy Robert Danko.
