Woman airlifted after Kingsbury accident

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on January 18, 2018 at about 5:22 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident at the intersections of Burgoyne Avenue and State Route 196 in the Town of Kingsbury.

After an investigation, it was determined that Nancy Wever, 61, of County Route 43 in Fort Ann was operating a 2001 Hyundai north on Burgoyne Avenue when she struck the back of another vehicle that was also headed north and stopped at the traffic light. That vehicle, a 2004 Ford truck, was being operated by Melanie Arno, 23, of Lake Nebo Road in Fort Ann.

Wever’s passenger, Connie Barrows, 54, of Anthony Road in Fort Edward was flown by medical helicopter to the Albany Medical Center with severe leg and pelvis injuries. Melanie Arno denied injuries while Nancy Wever was transported by Fort Edward Rescue Squad to the Glens Falls Hospital with leg and chest injuries. Burgoyne Avenue was closed for a short time while the crash was investigated and Kingsbury Fire Department extricated both Wever and Barrows from their vehicle. Nancy Wever was subsequently issued a citation for following too closely.
