Granville man arrested for failing to register


According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on January 31. 2018,  the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Granville man after an investigation between the Washington County Probation Department and the Sheriff’s Office. James Birkheimer was arrested and processed for failure to properly register as a sex offender  after information was uncovered by the Washington County Probation Department during a routine home visit to Birkheimer’s residence. Birkheimer was processed at the Law Enforcement Center and was taken to central arraignment where he was held on $5000 cash bail or $7500 bond.
