Act of kindness ends in robbery

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Kingsbury woman for robbery after an incident in the Town of Kingsbury. Stacey D. Altarac , 29, of Seventh Avenue forcibly stole a purse from a woman she did not know, who had agreed to give Altarac a ride home from South Glens Falls. Upon arriving on Seventh Avenue, Altarac forcibly stole the woman’s purse after a struggle and fled behind some houses.

Officers arrived and followed foot prints in the snow which then led into the back of Altarac’s residence further down on Seventh Avenue. Contact was made with another resident of the house and officers made contact with Altarac who had taken a shower to make it look like she was not involved. She was arrested and transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward where she was arraigned and sent to the Washington County Jail for lack of bail.

The victim was not injured and her purse was recovered however some of the contents have not yet been located.
