[ARCHIVED] As the "Spring" type weather finally starts to arrive so does the state ban on brush burning!

Burn Ban 2019

As the spring type weather is finally starting to arrive (yes, we know there is still plenty of snow on the ground, but it will disappear quickly!), please keep in mind that the statewide Ban on Residential Brush Burning is approaching and will be in effect beginning March 16th and remain in effect through May 14th.

Have questions regarding the Open Burning law? Check here first: http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/58519.html

The full text of Part 215 relating to Open Burns can be found here: https://goo.gl/4egDUC

Reminder: The towns of Dresden, Fort Ann and Putnam are designated "Fire Towns" under the Environmental Conservation Law and require permits to be issued from DEC.

Violators of the open burning state regulation are subject to both criminal and civil enforcement actions, with a minimum fine of $500 for a first offense. To report environmental law violations call the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation at 1-800-TIPP DEC (1-800-847-7332) or report violations online at http://www.dec.ny.gov/regulations/67751.html .

Please be fire safe, inside and out!
