Since 2010, the Youth Bureau/Alternative Sentencing Agency have been fortunate to work with a group of students in the Hudson Falls School District who are members of the Roots and Shoots Club.
The goal of this club is “to promote environmental and civic awareness in our district and community so that students can make a informed and conscientious decisions as adults.”
Through our collaboration the club was able to make paper recycling the normal practice within the Hudson Falls High School while supporting the County’s Recycling Center by donating the recycled paper. Due to the sale of the County Transfer Stations in 2013, the club now contracts with Green Fiber to recycle their paper products.
Additionally, club members support our “garden” by starting 50-10 tomato/pepper seedlings. These are then planted in our “garden” and donated to senior centers and food pantry’s in the county.
