Salem man charged after shot is fired during domestic dispute

Charges Filed: Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (NYS PL 265.02 sub 1), Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree (NYS PL 120.25), Aggravated Family Offense (NYS PL 240.75), Menacing in the Second Degree (NYS PL 120.14)

INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to Coon Lane in the Town of Salem for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon investigation it was determined that Scott D. Johnson, age 59, menaced the victim in this case with a shotgun and fired one round at him during the dispute. Johnson was charged with the Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Aggravated Family Offense, and Menacing in the Second Degree. Johnson was arraigned at Washington County Centralized Arraignment and released on his own recognizance.
